Weight Loss Goals

A frequent mistake made by dieters is setting unrealistic goals. There's no point in setting yourself up for failure.

Short Term or Long Term?

I really think weight loss requires short term goals to be effective and manageable. If you want to lose 50 pounds in a year, that's acheivable, but after 3 or 4 months when you've only lost 8 pounds, you're going to get discouraged looking at how far you are from your goal. Setting a goal of maybe 2 pounds in 2 weeks is better. It's small, simple, and is not so imposing. There are 52 weeks in a year, so you would easily meet your goal if you tackled 2 week spans. Not only that, when you meet goals, you will be motivating yourself, and the next 2 weeks will be even easier. After several months, you'll look at your overall weight loss and be happily amazed!

Unrealistic = Unhealthy

Don't set a goal of a big loss in a short time. Losing 10 pounds in one week just isn't healthy. Too much, too fast. Remember that you're not just trying to get skinny; the most important thing is you're trying to get healthy! That means losing that weight at a natural pace. I've said it before and I'll say it again - lose it too quick, and it's going to come right back. I have to mention that I think there's a certain mental health component here as well. If you meet goals, especially towards something like good health, it's important for building self esteem and setting yourself up for future successes in all areas of life. If you're trying to better yourself but don't meet the goals you set, the discouragement can be mentally debilitating and prevent you from pursuing such worthwhile ventures in the future.

Self Help - How To Achieve Success In Life

Success is within the reach of all of us, but most of us are not able to fully enjoy the fruits of hard work. Some do not realize their full potential and settle for what life has given them. Success is the companion of those who do not settle for less but always dream to achieve the highest. Self help can be instrumental for achieving success and help you lift yourself from the survival to success stage. All you have to do is help yourself in pursuing your goals and achieving your targets.

The first step in self help on how to achieve success is setting your goals and targets. You can attain a far greater degree of success if you have a set target and goal to achieve. Setting out a target and taking steps or actions towards your goal will make you come closer and closer to your goal every time you take a step towards it. Each of your action will result in your progress towards your goal.

Gaining knowledge about your field of activity will make you more and more confident. You should make it a point to gain some knowledge about your field everyday. Studying all publications about the field and interacting with other people in the same subject and exchanging ideas with them will help you gain more and more knowledge about the field. Knowledge and success are directly linked with each other and if you have knowledge about your field there are rare chances that you can be cheated or fail in your attempts for success.

Another major tip of self help in achieving success is to learn from your failed attempts. If you fail in any of your attempts it is not wise to quit making attempts, rather you should make failure your learning ground and analyze what went wrong. Try to correct your mistake and take another attempt and you will find that you are one step closer to your target.

Examining your thoughts and raising your thinking on the positive side of an aspect is an important aspect of self help for gaining success. Negative thoughts blow things way out of proportion and make you lose your confidence. Keeping away from negative thoughts and lifting your thinking towards the positive side of each aspect help you leap towards your goal. Take charge of your attitude and do no allow yourself to be carried away with negative vibes. Positive thoughts are said to be productive and lead to success and attaining your goals. Thinking about positive things will help you lift your spirits and gain rewards for you.

Doing what you love to do is a stepping stone for your success. If you are doing something which does not interest you, you may not be able to put in all your heart and spirit into your work and thus may not be able to achieve maximum benefits. Chances of being successful are far more in case you are doing something that you love.

Living life to your fullest at the current moment is the best self help tip for achieving success. Living in present by worrying for the future and regretting the past will do no good to you. You should live for the present and try to enjoy every moment that you have. Take time out for your family and friends and have fun in your life. Count your blessings and do not brood over your failures or shortcomings. Learn to enjoy your success but do not regret your failures, rather make it a learning ground and stepping stone for your success.

Is a Lack of Self Discipline Keeping You From Accomplishing Your Personal Goals in Life?

What is Self Discipline and more importantly-how do you get self discipline and apply it in your own life? It appears everyone these days are just way too busy. I'll admit it, I too face the same 24/7 schedule that you and everyone else faces that is on this planet.

The key lies in how to apply self discipline consistently in your daily life. From my 10 + years experience providing personal goal setting/strategic planning for private industry and individuals, I have discovered that there are basically 6 specific characteristic traits or areas that really differentiate those who accomplish their goals and succeed in life, from those who individuals who just go through the motions but never really make an attempt in accomplishing anything.

ATTITUDE:

Your positive attitude plays a significant part in yourself discipline. How are you currently doing in yourself discipline in personal life or professional career goals, or health and fitness goals? Only you can answer that question honestly.

You get up in the morning and you know you should walk or run for 15-30 minutes, but you decide you would rather sleep in. Then you repeat the same behavior the next day and the next day, and before you realize it, you are no longer exercising like you should do.

What separates the winners from the losers is not education, or intellect, or money or fame, it is CONSISTENTLY doing the things required for you to succeed in life. Only you know what those things are, but it begins with your attitude and willingness to continue the race.

COMMITMENT:

Along with attitude is commitment which is just as important. How committed are you in yourself discipline and for what reasons? You have to have a purpose first-then you follow-through with your commitment in doing what you have to do.

If you have a big exam coming up which requires your time each and every night to study or you'll fail the test and ruin your opportunity for the big job promotion because you didn't pass the exam, do you wait until the night before the test to study?

If you do-then you are really not committed enough to follow through in taking the test, studying daily and nightly in preparing for the test like you should. Before you begin any task that requires your commitment, you need to ask yourself how committed are you in carrying out a task that you don't want to do but know you should do. If you're not committed enough regardless-then you shouldn't do it period because you'll just be wasting yours and other peoples' time.

FAITH:

You have got to have the faith and belief in God and yourself in your self discipline. Life is tough and hard enough by itself-you need to have an advocate for you, a helper, someone you can call on 24/7 that hears and listens to you, and knows your struggles that you face in your personal and professional life. Have the faith to believe in God in seeking His help in helping you in your daily/weekly self discipline goals to have the perseverance not to give up or to quit.

MOTIVATION:

You have to have a certain level of motivation to keep you on track in your self discipline or you will eventually stop. From my experience in providing goal setting for people, I have come to realize that everyone is different in this area.

Everyone has different motivation tactics to use to keep themselves moving towards their own goals. What works for one person in trying to lose weight in your weight loss goals may not necessarily work for you. One example-motivation could be that new dress you want to buy or that new bikini bathing suit you want to purchase after losing the 20 pounds you want to drop.

The important thing is to use SMART goals , in your goal setting approach, and to begin slowly and gradually you can make your goals more challenging as you see results from your self discipline. Seeing results you can measure will make you more motivated whether you are setting real estate goals for yourself, starting your own work at home business or just trying to improve your health by losing weight.

FOCUS:

You need to focus on your goals. If you're determined for example to open up a new home business within the year, you need to prioritize what you need to do before that happens. Maybe there are some credit card bills you need to take care of first-before in your debt reduction before you can focus on your work at home business venture. Focus and prioritize on what you can begin working on now-in helping you realize your goals 12 months down the line. Plan your work and Work you plan...

PERSERVERENCE:

Lastly-is perseverance. Only those who preserver succeed-did you know that? What is the difference between Failure and Success-PERSERVERENCE. The world is full of quitters, it was too hard, it took too long etc.

The world is full of peoples' empty excuses...You weren't smart enough, or pretty enough, or gifted with the proper education, or you lived in a bad or poor neighborhood. Borrowing from an old cliché: Losers never Win, and Winners never Quit..

Only you can answer yourself honestly what is holding you back in life in fulfilling your destiny in life that God has planned for you. Will you rise to the top knowing you have given it your all 110% in life-or did you quit giving up on yourself and your dreams because it was too hard.... Perseverance Holds the Key to Success..

It's your Attitude not your Aptitude that determines your Altitude in your life.....

Remember: "The only Unfulfilled Goals in Your Life are the Ones you Never Attempt"

Achieving Your Goals When Marketing on the Internet

When marketing on the internet it is absolutely necessary that you establish some type of business goals. Most online entrepreneurs are generally responsible for looking after every function of their business. Without a predetermined set of measurable goals it can be very easy to go off course thereby losing time and money.

When working online from home goals can carry an even greater distinction due to the built in distractions that are part of the home environment. Having clear and measurable goals can offer a certain regimentation and direction to anyone operating a work from home business.

Recognizing the importance of goal setting for a home based business is one thing but establishing realistic and attainable goals is equally important. In any event it is only natural that meeting all our objectives will not always be easy. But it is interesting to note that the barriers to our goals can vary and upon recognition of this so should our approach.

Let's review 3 common barriers that may inhibit us from reaching our objectives and what we can do to overcome them

Non-Realistic Goals

Ambition is a great asset however we should not let it cloud our thinking when establishing goals. Our pursuit of any objectives we set for ourselves starts with a planning phase. Within this phase the first thing we should determine is if our goals are realistic.

Every goal we set should be something that is within our grasp if it is not we are simply setting ourselves up for failure and disappointment.

Money

This area is not as cut and dry as it may seem on the surface. Financial planning if it is applicable to the goals we have set is crucial from the standpoint that a timetable be determined. Starting out your finances may not be an issue but a system of checks and balances needs to be put in place to monitor the level of your financial situation.

If the progress you are hoping for does not occur as quickly as you had anticipated you may put your self into a financially stressed situation. This is a critical area that needs to be planned for very carefully beforehand to avoid any long term damages.

Lack of Motivation

If you planned correctly your goal should be realistic and money should not be an issue. However if you still are experiencing little or no progress then likely you are not well motivated. A lack of motivation is as real as a brick wall and can stop you just as fast. If you can't find the proper motivation to complete your objectives then you probably don't want it bad enough. If this is the case then move on to something else.

Marketing on the internet is becoming more commonplace and many online entrepreneurs find themselves actually working online from home. Due to the built-in distractions of the home environment it becomes increasingly more important to have pre-established business goals to help keep you on track. Having these measurable goals offers more structure and regimentation to the work schedule. These goals however are not always easily accomplished and for varying reasons. As we discussed above early recognition of these barriers can help to determine what alternate course of action you may need to take. In the end with the right amount of self discipline a work from home business can be a very rewarding experience on many levels for you.
